Knäck

Some of the traditional treats we make for the Christmas celebrations are ice chocolate, gingerbread and my absolute favourite - knäck! It’s like a toffee with almonds, you can choose to make them soft and chewy or hard. I made mine chewy last night and they are divine!! Adam tells me they are pretty good too ♥

I’m really enjoying all Christmas inspiration I can get in this Australian summer. Thank god for the net, Christmas time for me is and will always have a connection to snow and a cold winter. The Christmas on the beach we have here is all fun, but it never feels like real Christmas to me. I know there will be people who disagree with me, and how lucky is that. It would be sad if we all thought the same and had the same view on everything. Today I’m getting my inspiration from this beautiful Danish home, its very simply decorated and I like it.

Mix of new and old

This apartment, in a building from 1891, has an awesome collection of new and old things. I like how the young and fresh feeling interacts with the old character of the home. I have always liked photo walls, but here they have taken it one step further and collected all sorts of bits and bobs on the wall. I have a little love for fireplaces and this one is just beautiful. One day I want to have a little apartment in an old building in Sweden, one day…

Winter thoughts

I’ve just sat down to relax after a long day, got a nice mug of chai latte in my hand and I'm looking through the net for inspirational photographs and homes. I really like this industrial style combined with raw natural material used in this winter home. Loving the skull pillow too! Who wouldn’t want to stay here during the winter months and the best thing is that the house is located in the middle of a ski slope.

City Beach

My fiancé came home with a look on his face as if the weight of the world was on his shoulders, so I suggested we head to the beach to relax and watch the sunset. It was one of those perfect evenings when the temperature is perfect, no wind and the ocean just oh so beautiful ♥

Picnic

In a couple of weeks the best group of friends are getting together for our yearly Christmas Party. This year we are going to have a picnic. This is very Australian to me as us Swedes would never be able to have a picnic in the middle of the Christmas celebrations as it would be too cold. The closest we would do to that would be to go ice skating together on a frosen lake somewhere and bring some nice sandwiches to munch on and hot chocolate to keep warm. Anyway, back to the picnic.. I have started to think about the food I will bring, it will most likely be something with a Swedish twist. What I do know for sure that I will bring is my favorite Swedish cider, I was so excited the first time I saw it on the shelf of a Perth liquor shop and it brought back memories of parties in the past. It’s called Rekorderlig and comes in a few different flavours, my favorites are Strawberry & Lime, Pear and Wild Berries. To be honest though, they are all good.

I received my new Sköna Hem today, it always put a smile on my face when I see it in our letterbox. I’m home for some lunch and flicking trough the magazine and thought I’d share a few pictures of an inspirational home. We all love new shiny homes, but old houses and furniture add so much character and I love when every piece seem to have a story to tell.
